One of the largest long-term nutrition studies ever conducted shows a strong correlation between bean consumption and Alzheimer's.  Not surprising considering that all legumes contain neurotoxins,

Recent studies have shown ethnic differences in Alzheimer's rates that correspond to bean consumption patterns of traditional ethnic diets.

I always observe what others are eating during my daily lunch at Luby's cafeteria.  The incidence of bean consumption seem to match the results of these studies.  Those exhibiting the shuffling gait associated with Alzheimer's or Parkinson's always have beans on their plate.
