So why count protein grams or anything else? I don't think most people have
to.

If you are concerned about Syndrome X you simply limit your carb intake,
make sure you get plenty of fat (balanced fat, including lots of w3) and you
should be fine.

If you eat an egg or two, some tuna for lunch, and perhaps half a sweet
potato, or some turnips, and some leafy greens and a little meat, that makes
a good day and it is quite low in carbs, though it may keep you out of
ketosis.
