My experience is that they keep well , several months at room temperature
(much like hazelnuts and walnuts)

However there can be health hazards with brazil nuts. A couple of years ago
some batches were removed from the shops by health autorities, because high
levels of "aflatoxins" had been found in them. "aflatoxins" are produced
by fungi, and are very bad - causing liver-cancer (if I remember correctly)

Since then I have not heard more about brazil nuts containing aflatoxins-
Does anyone know more about this ?

I love Brazil nuts, so I hope they are healthy :-
)
I have read that Brazil nuts are not farmed, but collected from wild trees -
sounds very nice ,is it really true ?
