I have studied and practiced Ayurveda for some time now.  A web site
below may provide some insight on nail health.  Also do a search on the
Internet for the topic to see more perspectives.  Nutritional imbalances
are likely a cause of nail ridges.  Raw fats play an important part in
bone and nail health.

Naturally there are better quality fats than cooked ghee (from a paleo
perspective).
