I guess I'm not a Paleo purist, because I do eat small amounts of cheese
several times a week, and I do love my large cup of morning coffee with a splash
of cream. Other than that it's organic beef, lamb, poultry and eggs, and
yummy local fresh fish, (I live in Key West) with lots of salads, fresh green
veggies, berries, nuts and seeds. I also use salad dressing, butter and olive
oil, and drink at least a half gallon of water a day, and walk my two large dogs
about 2 to 3 miles a day five days a week. I am feeling so much better than
just a month ago, when I first started. I was low energy, and often felt like
I needed an afternoon nap. I have been lurking on this list a few months, but
it took me until a month ago to finally take the plunge. I have lost 15
pounds, 3 inches off my hips, 3 off my waist, and my energy level has tripled. I
can't remember the last time I have felt so good. My daughter gave me the
biggest compliment this week when she said, "Mom, you look like a smaller
person."
I was maybe 30 pounds overweight to begin with, so I don't have an excessive
amount to lose, but if I feel this good now, I can hardly wait to see what I
will feel like when the last 15 pounds melt away. For me this will be a
lifetime eating plan, not something I think of as a diet. I REALLY enjoy the foods
I eat, and find I want less of everything, and fill up faster. No surprise to
those of you doing this for a long time, but a wonderful surprise to me.
Prior to this, I ate high carb, low fat, mostly vegetarian and the 30 pounds
crept on over the past few years. Gee, I wonder why.
LOL!!!
