I can only attest to my own state (Colorado), but you may want to check with
your state's Division of Wildlife.  Here in Colorado, many hunters travel
hundreds to thousands of miles to hunt but leave the kill here as it's very
expensive to take it home.  I've also been told that "road kill" is
buthchered if Division crews get there soon enough.  This meat and donated
game are available to people who cannot tolerate commercially-produced meats
but only with notification from their doctor.  I don't remember if it's free
or you have to buy it but if it's purchased, I'm sure it will be within your
range.  This may be unique to states like Colorado which is a hunter's
paradise and has a lot of wildlife.  I've seen deer carcasses on I-70 more
times than I can count.  Thankfully, I've never seen an antelope carcass but
I've seen herds both standing and running on the plains many times; their
beauty is simply stunning.
