Weight 161.8 (down 1.0)
Total protein consumed: 100 grams
Total calories: 1740

Had 3 fried eggs, 4 pieces of bacon for breakfast. Lunch was 6oz of
beef brisket. Dinner was 3 oz of quality turkey deli slices.
Throughout the day, whenever I felt the slightest hunger pang, I
swallowed a tablespoon of olive oil (if I was at home) or coconut oil
(at work).

Yesterday by about 11am I realized that I had consumed the eggs,
bacon, and the brisket and I was already at 78 grams protein, the
lower limit of my daily protein requirements. That freaked me out
slightly as I began to have thoughts that there was no way I could do
this without starving! I went back to both Rosedale and Phinney and
realized that 78 grams was my lower limit, the amount I had to have
per day to maintain lean body mass. Upper limit is 110 based on the
formula that you take ideal weight in kg and multiply times 1.2 for
lower limit and 1.7 for upper limit.

That made me feel better and I had another few tablespoons of coconut
oil until I got home and had the lean turkey to take me to 100g
protein for the day.

About 2pm yesterday I began to feel the typical effects of very low
carb eating: fogginess, muscular fatigue in simple tasks such as
walking to the water cooler. Last night I felt I had a head cold:
stuffy head, congestion, even itchy watery eyes.

My sleep was somewhat broken, but I did have a up of strong green tea
at 9pm (something I never do) AND my sweet little six year old
daughter decided last night was the night for a visit! (She never
does that...)

Work out tomorrow.

Jim

P.S. Here's a reading assignment for you. Read Phinney's review on
ketogenic diet and physical performance. I will be referring to it
quite a bit during this trial...
