I just read Justin and Anthony's postings on how thyroid medication can
make a difference and got excited.

Has anyone had any luck with using these "natural" alternatives to Synthoid?
Is it possible to buy synthoid from any "outside" sources without a
physician's prescription?

For years, I've tested in the low normal range for thyroid function, with
very low blood pressure and a very low body temperature (97 degrees F). In
my twenties and thirties, I had a family doctor who put me on a low dose of
Synthoid and I had no problems.

Maybe it is the doctors I've seen recently (2); but every one has been
reluctant to prescribe Synthoid for what they consider a borderline
condition and minimal symptomology. (This was before I chunked out). Many
books recommend taking the armpit temperature upon awakening. I've brought
the low body temperature results to my family doctor and was still told that
I didn't need medication. Maybe I should see an endocrinologist and insist
on a trial. However, I have to go through my primary care physician for a
referral to a specialist.

With this type of reaction from physicians, I've been experimenting with
Thyrostart, a thyroid support supplement made by Silversage for about a
month and a half. I can't tell yet if it is making a difference. There are
other types of supplements on the health food shelves.

Any ideas?
