I read some material somewhere that suggested that part of the reason  
modern man's immune system is so weak is that we keep ourselves *too*  
clean.  By living in a "sanitary" environment, we're not exposed to as  
much as we would be if we lived in a cave, so our natural immunity doesn't  
get any "practice".  Seems like there was even a study done to back it up,  
but I don't recall the sources at the moment.
