Must say I've never been totally satisfied by the explanation not to drink
alcohol because it's "yeast urine". I think the following quote puts an end
to any idea that alcohol is paleo:

Robert Crayhon: The upshot of all this is that it couldn't hurt if you've
got an auto-immune disease to try a grain-free diet.

Loren Cordain: Well, it's more than grain-free. We found again from a
Paleolithic perspective that humans didn't drink a lot of dairy, nor did
they consume legumes or yeast-containing foods. Dairy, legumes, and yeast
contain peptides with amino acid sequence that are homologous to amino acid
sequences in a variety of human tissues as well.

From: The Paleolithic Diet and Its Modern Implications
An Interview with Loren Cordain, PhD
by Robert Crayhon, MS http://www.lifeservices.com/cordain.htm I think this
is the one referenced on www.paleodiet.com

Up until now I'd struggled along by nominating alcohol as the elusive fifth
food group!! Seriously, this means alcohol is bad for people with autoimmune
disease and if they insist on drinking they should take distilled alcohol
beverages as they have a lot less yeast proteins/ antigens in them.
