Wow, what an unfortunate article.  I saw two different news reports on the 
discovery last night and I can assure you that the article you posted in no 
way resembled the truth of what happened at the unveiling of the discovery 
to the press yesterday.

The presenters were extremely careful, IMO, to avoid saying that it was the 
missing link.  They simply pointed out similarities to primates such as 
fingernails instead of claws, et cetera and brought up the "possibility" 
that the small cat-like creature may have been an ancient ancestor - if not 
in our direct line of descent then, possibly, another branch.

My family has been Christian for over 800 years (that we can trace).  And I 
can tell you that ultraconservative far right "Christians" who twist the 
truth to push their agenda scare me.
