Stephen C. Cunnane (professor of medicine and physiology at the University
of Sherbrooke and Canada research chair holder in brain metabolism and
aging at Sherbrooke's Research Center on Aging) has written a new book:

Stephen C. Cunnane. Survival of the Fattest: The Key to Human Brain
Evolution. World Scientific Publishing Company. 2005. $32.00.

From the publisher's description: "....In the case of human brain
evolution, the main environmental influence was adaptation to a 'shore-
based' diet, which provided the world's richest source of nutrition, as
well as a sedentary lifestyle that promoted fat deposition. Such a diet
included shellfish, fish, marsh plants, frogs, bird's eggs, etc...."
