If you have a place to keep frozen food, why not prepare and freeze soup as you might not feel like eating much at least the first 24 hours.
And/or prepare a couple of TV dinners and prepare just as you would for home use.

Hospital is in my city -- NYC.  I may have to resort to whey protein powder 
hakes -- this scares me -- but I don't want to be considered an anorexic 
ho refuses to eat...That and hard boiled eggs may be my only choices.  I 
annot have salt right now and the salt-free pemmican is sold out at 
swellness...This all happened so suddenly -- no warning...
