This is because you can't simply just restrict calories alone.

An entire system for restricting calories to reduce aging is described in
somewhat technical detail in Dr. Barry Sears' "The Anti-Aging Zone".

That method of CR is specifically designed to avoid hunger, improve mood and
energy, and increase sex drive.   (Other effects are significant decrease in
headaches and excess stomach acidity.)

Sears' method utilizes paleo principles as well and modifies them to fit what is
indicated by his physiological research, especially in the area of the
aforementioned EFAs...
