Besides being VERY bitter. I like bitter taste, but can't eat them.

By the way, the kids and I were eating wild cherries last week. Other
neighbor kids playing around there tried them but refused to eat more
than one, most spit them out. Taste has to do with what you are used
to. My kids love mulberries, we spent the last two weekends picking
them, but I have never seen anyone else around here eat them. Somewhat
bland compared to most fruit.
