Years ago I read an article in IIRC Scientific American about a young  
couple who were infertile. Tried everything. University students. Went off  
for outdoors summer work, and she came back pregnant. Extensivelely  
studied, before and after, and there were changes in the sensitive layer  
of the eyes, and others that indicated that sunlight was the reason.
The university was in Florida, regret that I have forgotten so much of the  
rest of the article.

I think that UV is an essential nutrient, as usual not in excess.
