Hi

After reading the latest mailings I thought I would put some of the UK
aspects to peanut butter and some thoughts on emotions.

In many UK state schools the peanut butter sandwich is banned, simply
because of the anaphylactic problem, this often includes schools we no
known pupils with an allergy. My daughter has LI no banning of milk is
currently needed or envisaged if a pupil joined the school with serious
reaction to milk I wonder if milk would be banned?

Emotions - My daughter is LI if she has some milk e.g. cheese she is okay
if she has a lot as well as being sick and having stomach problems her
moods change, she has a major drop in concentration and become
argumentative and pure hell to be with. Her teacher noticed that once she
stopped eating a vegetarian lasgne her ability to work well at school
improved tenfold. She now has this food as a rare treat on non school weeks.

Asthma - most people with asthma in the UK are prescribed either Becatide
or Ventolin to ease the symptoms of asthma, if they use the rotacap version
of these medications they contain lactose as the excipient ( non active
part of a drug). The report I got back stated that for LI sufferers 10-15
grams could be consumed before any affect was noticed.

My point is has anyone noticed that using medication with lactose as the
excipient has caused the emotional problems previously noticed within the
group, especially runny noses, bad tempers, etc?

Thanks

Alan
