I just posted some info a bit ago about Tums being a poor calcium
source, according to my naturopath Tums will lower the acid level in the
gut and this is not good for a variety of reasons, mainly because it
affects how well any food is absorbed and therefore affects the amount
of nutrients we really get. Also, with allergic folks it is bad because
the foods are not being broken down well enough and are absorbed into
the body in larger protein pieces ( no scientific lingo here!) and that
makes it more likely that a sensitivity can occur. I refered folks to a
book by Zoltan Rona M.D. for more info.
