After several weeks on antibiotics, my doctor recommended lactobacillus pills.

I broke my own rules and took the things, not seeing dairy in the
ingredients, but also not checking with the manufacturer. I had terrible
trouble with it - GI problems, but, thankfully, not anaphylaxis.

When I contacted the manufacturer, I finally got the message that the
product was cultured in milk and not recommended for those with allergies
to, or problems digesting, milk products.

I expressed my dismay that they had not put such a disclaimer on their
label. They were curt and dismissive.

Bottom line: check with the manufacturer before you take it.
