Chris,

Polycythemia Vera is a blood disorder in the leukemia family. My body
produces and/or accumulates too many red blood cells and platelets.
Complications arise with clotting problems. I am monitored every few
months with a CBC (complete blood count) to check my hemaglobin and
platelet levels. I seem to be in a fairly stable condition for the last 5
months. I choose to believe that my diet has impacted the progression of
the disease. The disease can progress to a fibrosis condition of the bone
marrow and enlargening spleen. In some people, however, the disease stays
relatively benign and doesn't shorten life span at all. Time will tell
what it does with me.

Denise
