I personally know that when I used to drink milk/eat dairy constantly, I was
always constipated. I never made the connection until I read your post. But
also, when I stopped dairy, I made a conscious effort to improve my overall
diet i.e. eating more fresh (and now organic) produce.

Most recently, my 11 month old daughter was constipated to the point of tears.
On the advice of a friend who is a nurse, I added oat bran to her diet. (I
just sprinkle a teaspoon full into her applesauce. I think wheat bran will
work too, but I'm trying to follow a diet for our blood types, and we both
should avoid wheat.) She seems to love it and now her bowels move after every
meal as nature intended. I nurse my daughter, and I'm sure her constipation
was a direct result of my occasional forays into dairy land. I have a very
bad sweet tooth and tend to satisfy it with desserts like cheesecake and key
lime pie. Even tho I know they are bad for me, I lapse occasionally. But, I
must say that after checking out that website in the post titled "anti milk
literature", I'll get my fix elsewhere!
