If you look in the right places, you can find Pareve (certified non-dairy)
chocolate chips. In California, Ghiradelli (sp?) semi-sweet chips have no
dairy in them. Around here in Toronto, there is a No Name brand that is
Pareve. Bakers semi-sweet squares aren't supposed to contain dairy but
probably are run on production lines which also process dairy. The
unsweetened Bakers Squares are supposed to be totally non-dairy. Look for
the Kosher symbols for Pareve or words saying Pareve or Parve. You can also
make treats/desserts using cocoa. I don't miss chocolate bars when I can
eat decadent brownies or chocolate sauce over non-dairy ice cream.

If you true LI, then Lactaid or equivalent tablets should work for you.
