I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, but there seem to me to be rather a
lot of recipes posted on here which would be more suitable to a list other
than milk free. Ones that exclude a lot more than just milk, and in fact
where excluding milk is actually a fairly easy straight substitution - more
than once recently I've seen "butter" in the ingredients list - so its not
as if the substitution has already been made by the poster - we actually
have to do the substitution ourselves..

I feel that recipes which are gluten free, or whatever, are more appropriate
to a list specifically for that allergy (of which there are many). IMO this
list is for milk avoidance alone, if recipes happen incidentally to be
suitable for other diets well and good, but there are a great many recipes
doing the rounds that are almost incidentally milk free, or indeed not milk
free at all.

One of the best examples was one for DF (and a lot else F) Mayonnaise - when
real mayonaise is actually dairy free as it is! An alternative recipe that
wasn't even needed.

Its not that celiacs are unwelcome on here, its just that I think this list
is primarily for milk, not gluten, avoidance, and that the appropriate forum
for recipes which are gluten free is the celiac mailing list.

Just my 2p

Megan
