Joanne - One place we always feel safe with Michelle is McDonalds. They
publish a list of ingredients for everything they serve, right down to
the "special sauce." I've found this list in the eating area, but have
also asked at the counter. I have also had luck just asking to read the
ingredients on packages. Because there are so many different names for
milk and because Michelle has anaphylactic reactions, I never trust the
word of a wait-person. I know they have other things to do and may not
understand the importance of what I'm asking. I also have asked at KFC
and they took me back in their kitchen to read the ingredients of the breading
off the box. Of course it depends on how busy they are, but I have found
that if I just say "My daughter has severe food allergies, can I please
read the ingredients that are in xxxx?" they are more than helpful. If
I say that she is allergic to milk, they try to tell me there is none in
it and I just don't trust that they know about casein and whey.

Good Luck
