lisa,
my daughter's now 3 1/2 & started full time day care just before age 2. we've recently changed centers bc the 1st one didn't have a CLUE how to deal w/ her appropriately, & director was incredibly defensive at the slightest inference that she wasn't doing all she could do to keep dana safe. & that was at my local jewish community center (where they already know how to define what dairy is!!)

we're now at a chain, kids r kids, & i'm in daycare nirvana. they totally get the allergy thing; their 1st questions included things like asking about table washing, if airborne particles were problematic, etc. yes, by law, they need to deal appropriately w/ our kids, but there's not much more i could do about the 1st center except leave (tho my notes, log, & letters are an awfully thick file!)

trusting others to look out for our vulnerable kids IS tough, but i have absolutely NO worries about dana at this place. and i do think there must be more like this out there, but you have to be even pickier & do your homework even better than the average joe. if you want to email me backchannel, i can tell you more about what they do, what i've asked for, & how it's handled.......marla
