after going to eastern europe last year, i found that i was suddenly
allergic to dairy foods. my nutritionist told me that the antibiotics
i'd taken there had probably killed off some of the bacteria in my
stomach, so i took some acidophilus bacteria and l-gluatmine, and my
allergy seems to have improved.

so, for the first time this summer, i decided to have some yogurt on
thursday, as my introduction back into the world of dairy products.
i didn't have any of the usual lactose intolerance symptoms, but i woke
up on friday with a very slick-feeling throat --- with way more phlegm
than my body seemed to know what to do with --- and later in the day,
i discovered that my voice had left.

this lack-of-voice/phlegm occurance could be coincidental, but i couldn't
help but think of how singers/debaters/etc. are always told not to eat
dairy the day before an important voice-usage event.

my voice still hasn't come back, and i've continued to eat dairy products
for the past few days. i feel like i'm almost daring my voice to come
back while i'm using dairy products, to prove that this was all
coincidental.

most people i've talked to say that they've heard about mucous, but not
about losing one's voice. has anyone here had any relevant experience?
