What about sunflower margarine. I think it tastes nicer than soy. I
don't know what you have available in North America, but in the UK we
have a sunflower margarine which goes under the name "Pure" which is
dairy-free.

Alternatively, can you take non-dairy animal fats? They probably aren't
very good for you compared with vegetable fats, but you could consider
lard, for example.
