We had skin tests done when Alyssa was just over a year old. They used
blocks of little prick things - kind of like the old TB test prongs.
Each had a different allergen on the tip. We actually tested for quite a
few things and there were two blocks used with probably 10 or 12 on each
in a double row. The nurse pressed them into her back for just a second,
then did the other one. The nurse blotted the syrums with clean cotton
balls so they wouldn't run. A few scribbles with a marker and she was
done with that part. We had to keep her from wiggling to much and
itching. We waited 15 minutes for reactions and that was that.

Distracting her with a cup of juice and some crackers was a big help. I
always travel toys and snacks.
