I am not a Doctor but my LI and that experienced by my sister had nothing
to do with a disease of any sort as far as we know. I was in excellent
health about 18 years ago when I was diagnosed. I think it is genetic and
it seems to me that is supported by studies showing certain races have much
higher incidences of LI. For example, in Caucasians, I recollect it was
about 15%. For Africans it was 75% and for some Asians it was as high as
95%. My memory may not be perfect but I think these numbers are close.
After doing the math, I can't believe that over 1 billion people have
disease-induced LI. I am quite certain that was not the case for either my
sister or myself. However, it isn't something I'm going to worry about in
any case <g>.
