In some cases permenantly.  Mine got worse with age.  I've been doing my
best to be 100% dairy free for about 15 years.  I've gotten more sensitive
over time.  Dairy used to just depress my white count and lower my
resistance to infections, but now I get canker sores from single exposures
to trace amounts, such as in cross contamination.
