Hello! We survived the weekend :) Thanks for all your suggestions. Hunter is doing well. He had all formula from 2pm Thursday to 2pm yesterday, then I began offering breast in a bottle (main reason: to see if the problem was the breast or the breast itself/way he was getting it). He continued to do well...sleeping, very little crying, happy...on this combo of formula and breast. My guess, at this point is that is it is NOT the breast itself (as in not an allergy to something I am eating) and moreover, probably NOT a milk allergy either since he has done so well on Good Start. I also do not think he has reflux or colic....he is just the best, sweetest little guy...all he odes is eat and sleep and is very happy in his awake time :) I am going to continue to give a combo of both formula and breastmilk today, then all breast tomorrow, and hopefully by Wednesday we can get back to the actual breast. I think that those who advised me on overabundant milk supply and overactive letdown have it pegged. That is my latest guess since he does well on the breast just not so well when it is from the breast. I am calling LLL today to see what they have to say....though I think I have some good ideas from reading: pump 1 minute THEN offer breast....continue to offer same breast for TWO feedings then switch on 3rd feeding and do the same thing--pump that side 1 minute and offer 2 feedings....but we will see if LLL has any other advice for me.

On a not so exciting note, I have mastitis (nothing is ever easy huh? LOL) so I have been doing lots of hot showers, warm compresses and Advil.

I will continue to keep you posted. If anyone has any additional info they think may help me on overabundant supply/overactive letdown or mastitis, I am all ears!!

Many hugs and thanks!!
Nancy (w/ 5 week old HAPPY Hunter and 28 mo old Tyler)
