Welcome, Lori! I have a 9 year old daughter who is allergic to dairy
ingredients, peanuts and some tree nuts.

A common "beginner" mistake when reading ingredient labels is to assume that
"natural flavors" or "artificial flavors" are OK. Some times these are
dairy-derived ingredients. You can call the manufacturer to check, but often
the customer-service personnel will not be able to give you the assurance you
need with regard to this issue. Some manufacturers are starting to add a
parenthetical statement after listing artificial or natural flavors to indicate
if they include dairy. Until they all do this, you have to be careful.

Best wishes! You can find lots of helpful information in the archives of this
list.
