Spelt is an ancient form of our modern wheat. It is much closer
relation to wheat than is oats. Spelt (Triticum spelta) vs wheat
(Triticum aestivum) vs oats (Hordeum vulgare). In easier language
comparing spelt and wheat, is like having different oak trees
(Quercus sp.) compared to maple (Acer sp.)

Some say there's no immediate effects, but can still damage the
intestines long term. for lots of info see http://www.celiac.com
