Boy am I glad I opened the topic about
hydrogenation. I'm excited to learn there may be
another non-hydrogenated butter substitute out
there, especially one for frying!

I meant no harm in bringing up hydrogenation and
in no way mean to lay a guilt trip on anyone.
After reading one post after the other talking
about jelly beans, pop tarts, chocolate and
what-have-you, I couldn't just stand by and let
margarine go uncommented upon. After 5 years on a
more natural diet, checking out vitamins, juicers,
vegan and vegetarian diets and the like, I've come
to the conclusion that the way to true health is
1) Get right with God and your fellow human
beings,
2) Put healthy food in
3) Take unhealthy food out
4) Detoxify what the past has left behind
5) Get moderate exercise
6) Sprinkle it all with grace and graciousness

I too have my junk food and make my choices. Ya
need to live a little too. I can't believe I
actually went out and bought Pop Tarts after
reading about them on the list. But once in a
while won't kill me either. I also make choices
about allowing certain foods when friends are
involved or for birthday parties. As a
home-schooler I have less peer pressure involved
in lunch choices, so I have more control at those
times, so we can choose at other times. At one
time, one slip-up could cause quite a problem, but
now we don't have to be nearly so strict. I
realize that's not the case for everyone. I also
realize that you can find something wrong with
anything. I just wanted to point out that there
were acceptable (for many people) choices
available that weren't hydrogenated.

Thank you to Larissa Blechman for the
encouragement. Yes there is room for all here. How
can we learn if we aren't told? If someone hadn't
hounded me for years about dropping milk from my
diet, I wouldn't be in the drastically improved
state of health I am in.
