Hi Everyone,

I've been a member for the past month or so and after reading everyone
else's comments and advice, I've decided that it is time for me to
input! The list is very informative!

This past year, I began having digestive disturbances. I am a 26 year
old female and I started to frequently get heartburt, gas and abdominal
bloating and tenderness. After months of agony, I consulted my doctor
and had an upper GI. I also tried Lactaid Ultra but to no avail. The
results showed I had a slow digestive tract and she prescribed
Prepulsid. Leary of medication, I decided to eliminate dairy products
from my diet, thinking I maybe had an intolerance. My doctor said it
sounded like it could be. I kept eating cheese though and found that my
symptoms started to appear less frequently. I did eliminate ALL dairy
products for a while but found that I still had symptoms on occasion. I
am now on Prepulsid, still having occasional symptoms, but would prefer
to be symptom free and medication free!:) I would like to know if anyone
on the list has had a similar problem and if they can offer any advice.

Kali, my daughter, is 5 years old and has vomited on numerous occasions
after eating cheese(since her birth). I have noticed that she now avoids
it all together and she will not drink much milk, but does enjoy ice
cream. Could dairy products possibly be a factor?

I drink Soy milk but was wondering if it is naturally fortified with
calcium. It does not say on the label.

Finally, here's a recipe that I clipped from Canada's "Modern Woman"
magazine:

                Sensational Soy Shake
1 seedless orange, peeled and cut into pieces
1 banana, peeled and cut into pieces
1 medium scoop fruit-flavoured non-dairy ice cream, such as sorbet or
tofu ice cream
1/2 cup vanilla soy milk
Pinch of cinnamon & nutmeg
1/4 tsp almond extract

Put all ingredients in a blender, blend on high speed until smooth and
frothy. Thin with additional soy milk if necessary.

Thanks
