Please remember that while ingredients like lactic acid, sodium stearoyl
lactylates, and all the other "lacts" in the world _can_ be derived from
milk products, they do not _have_ to be be derived from milk products. So
when manufacturers say that a product with a "lact" contains no milk
derivatives, they may be telling the complete truth. You do have to check
each individual time if you are that sensitive, but there is no reason to
automatically assume bad faith on the manufacturer's part. And none of
these ingredients, milk-derived or not, should bother anyone whose only
problem is lactose intolerance.
