Hi -

Contamination of kosher pareve (or meat) products by milk is nothing
new. The laws of kashrut are religious, not medical, in nature. However,
the major hechshers (kosher certifiers) do understand that people with
allergies rely on their certification. Therefore, a hechsher such as OU
is far more stringent in their requirements than some of the smaller,
local hechshers, whose concern is focused on religion rather than on
health.

For a more complete discussion of the ins and outs of kosher markings,
please visit my web site.
