Hi Deborah!
As far as I know, both pronunciations are the same...the difference in
spelling mostlikely has to do with the fact that it is not an English
word, rather transliterated from the Hebrew.

It rhymes with carve.

Remember, a P next to a kosher symbol does not mean parve....it means it
is acceptable for Passover use.  Parve foods will say nothing after the
hecksher or the whole word parve.
