Hi --

If you're confident that all sources of milk are gone from your
daughter's diet, but she's still having stomach trouble (and yes, gut
pain is not an uncommon reaction to milk protein), then it's time to
look at alternatives.

First, make sure you're confident that milk is really gone. My web
site (listed in the signature line) offers some milk-free menus, along
with well-vetted advice on how to keep the milk out. I do suggest that
you avoid processed foods while you're new at this, as they are a true
minefield. Also be sure to read the inactive ingredients on any
required medicines.

If the milk is out and the aches continue, start a food diary. Write
down every little thing your daughter eats. After 1-2 weeks, choose a
food to eliminate in addition to milk. Gluten and soy are good choices
for a first go 'round. Corn might make the secondary list. Continue
the diary while eliminating your choice of foods. See if your daughter
improves at all. Also, insist upon a referral to a pediatric
gastroenterologist.

Other than the pain, how is your daughter doing? Is she growing at an
appropriate pace? Any rashes? Any other issues at all?

I hope these suggestions help,
