I don't see why they wouldn't work with xanthum gum, but is not JV on an
elimination diet that excludes wheat? If so, they I would also exclude the
other gluten containing grains. Brown rice syrup may or may not have
gluten. Some use barley enzymes to break down the rice starch to sugar.
Then some don't. You only know by asking (or buying from a source you know
is gluten-free, like Ener-G Foods). All barley malt has gluten.
