Steph -- I am only aware of two, whey-free, margarine brands (except for
some diet ones which are over 50% water and therefore useless for cooking).
I am constantly amazed by labelling which says 100% vegetable oil (soy,
canola, etc) and has other foods in it. You'd think they would run afoul of
some regulation some where and be chastised for it. Several times I have
worked my way down the dairy case reading labels of marg containers. I did
that at outlets of the two largest food chains in Canada. Of the probably
20, or so brands, no regular marg was whey-free. They averaged 1.4-1.8%
whey. I would be truly shocked if yours turns out to be whey-free. I was
warned by my family doctor. It never occurred to me that marg would contain
dairy. It proves the food allergy sufferer's dictum -- trust nothing & read
all labels.
