I don't think this is a nit.  I get this all the time too.  Waitstaff are
especially bad about this.  I asked about something breaded having dairy
in it and the person came back and said "yes, it has eggs in it".  There
was no dairy in it and I did straighten things out and ordered it.  Even
my husband often considers eggs dairy for some reason.
