Hi all,

I just got home from work and found that we had an active day! Yes,
subjects are useful.

While it is nice to see some activity, there was way too much quoting of
the posts you were replying to. This is not business correspondence. All of
the prior history need not be below. And it makes for easier reading (no
scrolling down and up) to put the one or two sentences quoted in front of
your reply. Often there is no reason to quote at all.

One third of our subscribers receive their posts in Digest form, so all of
the day's posts are in one e-mail. They'd rather not see any quoting of
prior posts, as the prior post is right there above it. Plus there is
always an archive crunch on maelstrom, though for this list, with its light
activity, this is less of an issue.

On the subject of maelstrom. This list will be moving to a new host
sometime before February 1st. The subscriber list and archives will be
moved over. Plus most of the prior to 1999 archives that were removed will
be restored. (Only 4/98 to 12/98 are missing. Anyone have them?) It will
still be Listserv (a newer version), so things will work the same way.

Also please send any thank you's (without new content) privately, and not
to the 230 subscribers to this list.

Thanks, Don (listowner).
