Access to healthcare made difficult for people with psychiatric problems
and/or learning disabilities
An extensive survey by the Disability Rights Commission (DRC) has shown that
people with mental health problems and/or learning difficulties get the
worst healthcare, and one of the main reasons for this is that they face
real barriers to accessing services.
Despite high levels of ill health, over 50% of people with mental health
problems and/or people with learning disabilities said they experienced
difficulties when trying to see their GPs.
