When Experiments Travel: Clinical Trials and the Global Search for
Human Subjects, 2009. Ariana Petryna, Princeton University Press

Reform advocates assert that "Often employing biased samples and
unable to detect uncommon but potentially fatal drug reactions,
trials are producing highly manipulate and less therapeutically
significant evidence." p 26

In the developing world, for AIDS relief, "Plizer loans medical as
well as financial and organizational management experts to help local
NGOs and ministries of health support health systems and 'deliver an
uninterrupted supply of high-quality, low-cost products that will
flow through a transparent, accountable system." p 192

Recommended reading, to shore up with you might already know about
pharma, evidence, greed and rights.

(One takeway - don't try a drug until it's been on the market for
several years. Sylvia)
