The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) is up for  US Congressional
reauthorization in December 2005.  Negotiations are underway to add an
international component.  A requirement should be "that women play an
integral role in the design and implementation of all peace initiatives to
ensure that their needs are met and their grievances are redressed."
