There, the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology has abandoned the
concept of schizophrenia and replaced it with a new diagnosis of
"integration disorder". It has recognised, through consultations with people
who use mental health services, that the diagnosis itself can be more
dangerous for the person than the experiences of the "symptoms" of
schizophrenia.
