NEWS
PRESIDENT YAHYA JAMMEH AND HIS GOVERNMENT TO BE PROSECUTED BY NADD GOVT
FOR PAST CRIMES-DECLARES GANJI TOURAY FORMER PPP BIG WIG, AS NADD TO NAME
A FLAG BEARER SOON
BY YJ

October 25, 2005
A high profile court action awaits Gambia's President Yahya Jammeh, to
accounts for the misdeeds and other alleged crimes linked to him and his
government, as NADD's steering Committee member Ganji Touray hinted that a
NADD government must prosecute The Gambian leader Yahya Jammeh. Speaking
on the line to Banjul, Mr.Touray, one of the former big wigs of the
deposed PPP administration said, there is no way that Jammeh and his APRC
government can walk scot free with the atrocities committed by the ruling
APRC government.

"NADD will prosecute Jammeh whenever we come to power" Ganji Touray
insisted. Ganji's comments followed the just concluded controversial by
elections, in which a lot of dehumanisation and voter fraud were said to
have been carried out in the upper Saloum constituency. "I was in upper
saloum and have seen the way the paramilitary and the police officers
treated NADD supports."Ganji lamented. Touray added that NADD supporters
were harassed and locked up in jail for days. He added that some of the
NRP supporters detained at the kaur police station could not vote on
polling day. He said they have filed a suit in the High court to challenge
such electoral malpractices against NADD.

According to Ganji, The Gambia under Yahya are witnessing wanton
corruption and abuse of office. He added there is no indication that
things will change for the better. "Corruption is institutionalised in
Jammeh's government. From 1994 to date, a lot of corruption had been
uncovered under Jammeh's rule. Jammeh have personalised state power and it
is left with NADD to decide the fate of Jammeh and his gang once they
assume power next elections." he insisted.

Commenting on the much talked about NADD flag bearer, Gangi said that a
NADD flag bearer will be selected by the executive committee shortly after
the Ramadan. "We considered involving the grass root supporters, but due
to the labour and financial cost, we realised that it will be too
expensive.", he explained. Mr.Touray said the selection process will be
determined by NADD'S current executive members.

Ganji told the ALLGAMBIAN that there will be no power struggle come the
selection day for NADD'S flag bearer adding that "They are all mature and
responsible politicians and I know they are all united at this time." he
concluded.
