Sanusi,

Tumani was the last Soninke King of Kommbo who in 1864 was forced to 

accept Islam by Foday Kabba and Foday Silla.  Records would show that  

Banjul had always been part of Kommbo. And it was Banjul that became 

crown colony in 1816, not sure if it was under Saloun Jatta's reign, who 

in 1840 ceded British Kommbo (present day KMC) at a small annual payment.
