Ousainou Ngum, Isatou Badjie and all other sincere Jolas,

I never in anyway imply anything negative towards the Jolas as a group. I
think you people are blowing the phrase out of context. No single sincere
Jola has any reason to be alarmed. All I am saying is that ethnocentric Jola
nationalism as professed by some factions of the MFDC and fully supported by
Yaya Jammeh and some Jola elites in Senegal is evidently sinister! Since
the inception of this Cassamance struggle in the forties by Emile Badiane,
till his death in early 1970s, the movement had been a legetimate political
entity. When in 1982, after the intervention of France, and a thorough
arbitration, the Sovereignty of Senegal over Cassamance was once again
confirmed. Since then Diamacone Senghor politicised the issue that finally
led to the formation of the various rebel wings, the Attika. The Attika is
a very Jola organization and infact they have in the past practiced 'ethnic
cleansing', mined their sanctuaries which they purport to be "sacred
forests", raped, tortured and brutalized non-Jola ethnic citizens of the
Cassamance. Until I left the AFPRC I know that Yaya was nose deep into
playing ethnocentric politics since he has an eternal hatred for the
Mandikas simply because he believes that they are very proud people and they
shall never under any circumstances ever support him. Again this resulted
in his initiation of a two prong strategy one a regionalization program to
gain lattitute to 'develop' the Fonis at the expense of the Gambian state,
and two to arm his kins folk who has this overarching agenda to create a
Jola state within Senegal that straddles the Gambia and Guinea Bissau.
Mr Joe Sambou, let us keep the argument very objective and subdue the
emotions a little bit. I am only trying to enlighten people on this forum
to know what they are currently dealing with in the Gambia. I have more
Jola blood in me than you think.

Greetings

Ebou Jallow
